Progress for America’s new 60-second ad featuring young Ashley Faulkner, who lost her mom in the September 11 attacks, saying of President Bush, “He’s the most powerful man in the world, and all he wants to do is make sure I’m safe, that I’m OK.” Ashley was referring to a chance meeting in Ohio where the president, upon learning that Ashley was in the crowd at a rally, embraced her in a very touching moment captured on film by Ashley’s dad. The picture ran in papers all across the country.

PFA is spending some $15 million to retell the story in their television ad scheduled to run in 9 states between now and election day. The ad is so moving and so well produced that one Republican operative told Greg Pierce of Inside Politics, “The election is over and Bush just won.” If you haven’t seen the ad yet, go to:

“Right now we just have to come to the understanding that to allow people without a clue into a voting booth is dangerous to our Republic and the future of freedom.”

- Talk show host Neal Boortz, 10/19/04

“No, it turns out Saddam Hussein didn't have weapons of mass destruction. And how crazy does that make Saddam? All he had to do was tell Hans Blix, ‘Look anywhere you want. Look under the bed. Look beneath the couch. Look behind the toilet tank in the third presidential palace on the left, but keep your mitts off my copies of Maxim.’ And Saddam could have gone on dictatoring away until Donald Rumsfeld gets elected head of the World Council of Churches. But no…”

- Humorist P.J. O’Rourke

“Bill Clinton could say "I feel your pain," and he seemed sincere even if you suspected it was bunk. But Kerry is just too haughty to fake sincerity convincingly.”

- James Taranto, Best of the Web, 10/19/04

“Why is Kerry attacking with such venom? First, because in the insular Democratic world, George Bush is presumed to be guilty of everything, so the more vicious you can be about him, the better everybody feels. But there is a deeper assumption, which has marred Democratic politics for years. Some Democrats have been unable to face the reality that people have been voting for Republicans because they agree with them. So these Democrats have invented the comforting theory that they've been losing because they are too virtuous for the country.”

- New York Times columnist David Brooks

“There are two organizations pushing for change in November--al Qaeda and the Democratic party. And they both have the same message: ‘We're going to fix you, America.’ On the whole, the terrorists have a more straightforward plan for fixing things. They're going to blow themselves up. Although, come to think of it, Howard Dean did that.”

- Humorist P.J. O’Rourke

“A vote for John Kerry is a vote for Michael Moore, the ACLU, Ted Kennedy, trial lawyers, George Soros, the leftist academics who morally confuse generations of young Americans, and for Dan Rather, CBS News, and nearly the entire news complex that daily presents a proctologist's view of America. A vote for John Kerry is a vote for Jesse Jackson, whom Kerry has named a top adviser; and for Al Sharpton, with whom Kerry campaigns; for Sean Penn and his Hollywood world; and for the passionately pro-Kerry MTV, the greatest destroyer of young people's minds and souls in American history. And a vote for John Kerry is a vote for the countries that have abandoned us and against the countries that are helping us.

“Two unimpressive men have been nominated by the Democratic Party to be president and vice president of the world's greatest country. If they win, this country will, for the first time, begin relinquishing that greatness.”

- Columnist Dennis Prager

“An Ohio man has been arrested for allegedly filing more than 100 false voter registrations in exchange for crack cocaine from a woman working on behalf of the NAACP's voter registration drive. . . . Toledo police searched the home of Georgianne Pitts, the woman working for the NAACP, and found more voter registration forms. She admitted to paying the man crack for his services, and says she was hired by the NAACP, which of course denies any charge of voter fraud. Yeah right...dry that one out and you could fertilize the lawn.”

- Talk show host Neal Boortz, 10/19/04
