IT’S ALL ABOUT SEX

“ABC News actually conducted a poll this week on the comparative sex lives of Democrats and Republicans. 56% of Republicans and 47% of Democrats said they were ‘very satisfied with their sex life.’ . . . (Ralph) Nader, presumably, will call a press conference to denounce the Dems and media for trying to block him from having sex - although I think Nader sex would likely be a solo act with a full-length mirror. No word about Libertarian sex lives...but I'd think that would probably involve a trapeze, numerous consenting adults, some handguns, a bunch of marijuana, and Mike Badnarik giving participants a lengthy lecture on constitutional rights.”

- Rob Gunzburger, Politics1, 10/20/04

THE MOUTH ROARS...AGAIN

“Well, you know, I don't know Laura Bush. But she seems to be calm, and she has a sparkle in her eye, which is good. But I don't know that she's ever had a real job--I mean, since she's been grown up.”

- Teresa Heinz in a USA Today interview, letting the world know that she doesn’t believe being a teacher or a librarian are “real” jobs

SHOOTING UP JOHN KERRY

“Kerry got a flu shot last week. And out of force of habit, the doctor gave him the shot between those two wrinkles in his forehead.”

- Tonight Show host Jay Leno

FLIP-FLOPPIN’ EVEN ON SNOWMOBILES

“Honor the solitude and beauty of wilderness areas and our National Parks by keeping snowmobiles and jet skis out of Yellowstone and other sensitive areas, and by honestly addressing visitor and wildlife needs in our National Parks. John Kerry will reinstate the Clinton Administration’s phase-out of noisy and direct snowmobiles that have been overrunning some of our most precious lands, including Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park.” - John Kerry for President website

“It is so important that we preserve our rural way of life, it’s part of who I am, part of what I’ll always be. And that includes, making sure...that your right, your ability to hunt and fish is protected; making sure that you can go in the national parks and national forests and ride on a snowmobile.” - John Edwards, St. Paul Pioneer Press, 10/24/04

CELSIUS 41.11 OPENS

“Celsius 41.11,” a film produced by our friend David Bossie over at Citizens United, debuts in theaters across the nation today. The movie is a counter to Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9-11.” You can view a trailer for the flick and find a theater near you where it will be playing by going to: http://www.celsius4111.com

GOONIES STOP STOLEN HONOR IN THEATER

“Score one for the pro-Kerry thugs trying to stifle free speech. ‘Stolen Honor,’ the controversial documentary in which former prisoners of war in Vietnam speak out about John Kerry's antiwar activities, was to have been screened at a theater in Jenkintown, Pa., last night. But ‘management of the Baederwood Theater cancelled the showing after threats of civil disturbances,’ reports Philadelphia's WPVI-TV. Imagine the outcry we would have heard if Republicans had threatened ‘civil disturbances’ at theaters showing Michael Moore's ‘Fahrenheit 9/11.’”

- James Taranto, Best of the Web, 10/20/04

STOLEN HONOR NIXED ON THE TUBE, AS WELL

By now, you’ve probably heard that big time pressure and threats from the Kerry campaign, MoveOn.org, congressional Democrats and a union class-action lawyer forced Sinclair Broadcasting to nix airing the full 42-minute documentary about Kerry’s anti-war activities tomorrow night. But you can still view the entire film on the internet via pay-per-view ($4.99) by going to: http://www.stolenhonor.com/documentary/pay-per-view.asp

BLAST FROM THE PAST

“I'm an internationalist. I'd like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations."

- Then-congressional candidate John Kerry in a 1970 interview with the Harvard Crimson

TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE

“There's a reason that they're saying Kerry is the No. 1 liberal in the Senate. It's because he IS the No. 1 liberal in the Senate."

- Crockumentary producer Michael Moore at the University of Oregon on Monday

WHAT DO THE SECRET POLLS SHOW?

“The behavior of candidates for political office often reflects what they are seeing in their private polls. That being so, I suspect that the Kerry-Edwards private polls look pretty grim, unlike the public polls which purport to show them running neck-and-neck with the Bush-Cheney ticket."

- Talk show host Michael Reagan

HYSTERICAL WOMEN FOR KERRY

“Rosie the Riveter has given way to Sally the Sniveler.“

During World War II, young Rose Will Monroe was the face of American women in adversity: strong, supportive and resolute against the enemy forces that threatened our existence. Tens of thousands like Rosie rolled up their sleeves, gritted their teeth, and flexed their muscles in factories and shipyards and arsenals across the country. They made rockets and rifles and bombs and boats. They painted and drilled and welded. When they got home to their kids, they cooked and cleaned and collapsed in bed after praying for their husbands and brothers and uncles on the battlefield.

“Rosie and her sisters in arms didn't have the luxury of complaining about their lack of ‘me time.’ There was a war to be won. And so, as this presidential campaign season has constantly reminded us, there is today. But Rosie is gone. And in her place, we have Hysterical Women for Kerry.”

- Columnist Michelle Malkin

THE BLACK VOTE

“According to a poll by the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, an African American think tank, Mr. Bush is currently pulling 18% support from black voters. A New York Times poll also released this week showed Mr. Bush with 17% black support. He got 9% of the black vote in 2000. . . . Whatever the reason, Democrats may have to stop treating the black vote as something that merely must be ‘mobilized’ rather than ‘won’."

- Holman Jenkins, Political Diary, 10/20/04

A WOMAN SCORNED

“Scandal-hit Bill O'Reilly's accuser had a crush on the talk show host and voluntarily engaged in ‘intimate’ phone talks with him, according to a former friend of the woman. But at some point, the ex-pal said, O'Reilly's relationship with Andrea Mackris went sour - and she vowed to take her boss down in a juicy tell-all book. Restaurateur Matthew Paratore gave a sworn statement to O'Reilly's lawyers, saying he thought he had ‘something they should know.’

“...Paratore suggested that Mackris may have been motivated to file suit because of her proposed book. ‘He told us that Mackris confided in him that she wrote a book and the purpose of it was to take down Bill O'Reilly and Fox News,’ said O'Reilly's lawyer Ronald Green. ‘She spoke to a well-known publisher in January this year. She was told it had to have more impact, she had to do more to make the book more interesting and exciting.’ Green said he did not know which publisher she allegedly approached.”

- New York Daily News, 10/19/04
